Composition : (powder soluble in water)
Each 100 gm contains:
21.8 gm erythromycin thiocyanate
(Equivalent to 20 gm erythromycin base)
lactose as a carrier up to 100 gm
Properties:-
A broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic for the treatment of cases allergic to erythromycin.
It acts as an bacteriostatic and bactericidal depending on its concentration.
It acts by combining with 50 ribosomal subunits.
It prevents the formation of the peptide bond between the different amino acids required to form the bacterial protein necessary for its growth and multiplication.
Indications:-
For the treatment of respiratory diseases caused by Gram-negative microbes’ infection.
For prevention and treatment of mycoplasma and bird flu
It is used as an antistress to various stresses (after immunization, transportation, and beak cutting).
For animals, it is used to treat intestinal infections and endometritis.
Dose:-
For birds: 0.5-1 gm/liter of water for 3-5 days
For calves and lambs: 1 gm/10 kg of body weight for 3-5 days
